Books About Sharing for Toddlers:

Looking for the best books about sharing for toddlers?

Like all parents, you want to bring up your little ones to be good, generous people. But, are we really hard-wired to share and be generous with others, or do we have to learn? Either case, teaching your kids to share is a life skill that will serve them well for the rest of their lives.

The good news is that there is a boatload of books about sharing for toddlers out there. You can use these educational books for toddlers to instill the habit of sharing in them at a very tender age. This way, sharing will become part of their DNA, and they can pass this crucial virtue to their friends at school, in the playground and anywhere they go.

Why is Learning Sharing so Difficult for Toddlers?

You probably have tried to teach your little one to share their toys and whatnot without avail. Before you wreck your nerves, just know that kids this age don’t know how to put themselves in someone else’s shoes. They have not actually developed this ability.

As a parent, you might feel that you have failed. That’s the farthest thing from the truth. At this age, kids are trying to find out more about themselves — their thoughts, feelings, emotions, and so on.

Even still, when your child doesn’t want to share, it can be a little embarrassing especially when you’re in front of others. To set a ground foundation for sharing, here are some handy tips you might want to use:

Be the Role Model your Child Needs

Sharing, as they say, is caring. Sharing is something that’s contagious. That’s why you should lead by example.

Be passionate about sharing. Practice it with your toddler at home, and don’t forget to make it sound interesting. Tell your little one you feel like sharing a banana split, or cuddle together on the sofa.

Use Rewards

Let your toddler know that he or she has done a good thing by sharing. Use what’s called descriptive praise or reward. Say something like: “Did you notice how happy your friend was when you shared your toy?”
